Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

The Barolos of Giacomo Conterno are renowned for their extraordinary combination of power, subtlety and longevity, and to many represent the apogee of Italian fine wines. Cascina Francia is one of the most sought-after Barolos in the Conterno range, whose ample charms are particularly evident after long bottle maturation. On the 2008 Cascina Francia. "One of the best Cascina Francias in a long time. It shows aromas of melons and plums with hints of hazelnut and coca. Full body and dense with gorgeous silky tannins and an incredible finish. The texture is wonderful. Pure velvet. Chocolate and cedar. Orange peel. So long and beautiful. Love the finish. Very approachable now but better in four or five years." James Suckling, 2012

The 2008 Barolo Cascina Francia possesses gorgeous inner perfume, layers of sublime fruit and fabulous overall balance. Plums, dark cherries and licorice are followed by darker notes of graphite and tar as the wine opens up in the glass. Today, the 2008 is much less expressive than it has been the many times I have tasted it from barrel. It will be interesting to see how the 2008 develops and whether it puts on weight or remains more of a mid-weight, gracious Barolo. Time and Tradition

Founded in the 1920s, Giacomo Conterno is an iconic Piedmont estate currently owned and operated by Roberto, grandson of winery founder and namesake. Giacomo was assisted by his brother Aldo Conterno for many years before Aldo left to establish his own eponymous winery, pursuing a different style of winemaking altogether.

Along with Gaja and Bruno Giacosa, the winery is considered to be one of the premier producers of fine Barolo. Cascina Francia and Monfortino (only made in select vintages and aged for up to seven years before release) are Conterno's top wines when it comes to Nebbiolo, but the team also make excellent Barbera a'Alba. The Nebbiolo are traditional expressions of the Piedmont terroir in many ways - long-lived and earthy with an elegant savoury character to match alluring ripe red and black fruit notes.
