The 2013 Barbaresco Bruno Rocca is a red wine from the Barbaresco DOCG, made from Nebbiolo. The 2013 vintage, characterised by a long, cool growing season, produced wines of exceptional finesse, high acidity and great aromatic complexity. This bottling features a delicate yet intense profile of pure red berries, violet and mineral notes, framed by a taut structure and powerful, fine-grained tannins that point to its considerable ageing potential.

The 2007 Barolo Cascina Francia is just so sublime. It has a precise, characterful bouquet that instantly seduces with its pure red fruit, fennel and light undergrowth scents. The palate is so harmonious, framed by filigree tannins with a satin texture. Hints of blood orange infuse Morello cherries and strawberry fruit on the finish. Divine. Neal Martin12th June 2025

Time and Tradition

Founded in the 1920s, Giacomo Conterno is an iconic Piedmont estate currently owned and operated by Roberto, grandson of winery founder and namesake. Giacomo was assisted by his brother Aldo Conterno for many years before Aldo left to establish his own eponymous winery, pursuing a different style of winemaking altogether.

Along with Gaja and Bruno Giacosa, the winery is considered to be one of the premier producers of fine Barolo. Cascina Francia and Monfortino (only made in select vintages and aged for up to seven years before release) are Conterno's top wines when it comes to Nebbiolo, but the team also make excellent Barbera a'Alba. The Nebbiolo are traditional expressions of the Piedmont terroir in many ways - long-lived and earthy with an elegant savoury character to match alluring ripe red and black fruit notes.
