The Roberto Voerzio Barolo Brunate 2012 is a 100% Nebbiolo from the highly-regarded Brunate cru, situated primarily in the commune of La Morra. Roberto Voerzio is known for rigorous vineyard management, yielding approximately 500g of fruit per vine to ensure intense concentration. The wine is aged for 24 months in a combination of barriques and larger botti. This vintage shows a lively garnet-ruby colour and offers a complex bouquet of dark rose petals, cherry compote, tar and cured leather. It is a structured red with a full body, exhibiting compact, highly refined tannins and a long finish that confirms its potential for significant cellar ageing.

The Roberto Voerzio 2012 Barolo Brunate is a stunning expression with layered complexity and finesse. The wine shows a lively garnet-ruby color with a balanced and intense bouquet. You`ll recognize tar, cigar ash, grilled herb and cured leather with lots of dark fruit at the core. Those fruit tones recall black currant and plum. The quality of those primary aromas is tight and powerful, but not aggressive. This wine promises a long aging future as those fine tannins become even silkier. - Monica Larner

The 2012 Barolo Brunate wraps around the palate with striking depth. Creamy and expansive on the palate, the 2012 captures all the signatures of this site in a voluptuous, textured personality and depth. In 2012, Voerzio's Brunate is a bit more red-toned than is typically the case, while the darker, more balsamic inflections typical of this site aren't fully formed yet. As is often the case, the Brunate is soft and hushed on entry, then explodes through the mid-palate and finish with considerable intensity. This is the most embryonic of Voerzio's 2012s. Hints of sage, lavender and dried flowers add the closing shades of nuance. Antonio Galloni1st March 2016

Just mid ruby with a narrow rim with orange tinges. Peppery yet quite fine, brooding, intense nose with clear minerally notes. Wonderful balance on the palate, but overall seems a little light. And then. fist-in-glove-like tannins. This needs time. (WS)
