Pio Cesare Barbaresco 2013 is a medium- to full-bodied Nebbiolo red wine from the Barbaresco appellation of Piedmont, northern Italy. Pio Cesare has been producing wines for 135 years and has passed through five generations. This is a classically styled, harmonious and elegant Barolo that uses fruit from nine separate vineyards spread across five villages (mainly Serralunga). It is a wine which combines each of the unique characteristics of the different vineyards and terroirs of the Barolo area. "The aromas to this are really impressive with crushed berries, dried flowers, walnuts and roses. Metamorphoses all the time. Full to medium body, characterized by a fantastic mouthfeel of ripe and round tannins that are always polished and beautiful. Magnificent harmony and purity." James Suckling, 2017

The 2013 Barbaresco is a gorgeous wine. Bright and translucent, with tons of Nebbiolo character, the 2013 exudes class. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, mint, anise and white pepper give the wine its bright, chiseled personality. Readers should expect a mid-weight, gracious Barbaresco built on perfume, acidity and structure. I would prefer to drink it over the next decade. Antonio Galloni1st October 2017
