Barbaresco Camp Gros Gresy 2008 is a single-vineyard red wine crafted from Nebbiolo, sourced from the distinguished Martinenga amphitheatre in Piedmont, Italy. Renowned for its blue marl soils, the Camp Gros vineyard contributes to the wine`s structural complexity. The 2008 vintage, characterised by late ripening, achieves a balance of high acidity and robust tannins, reaching 14% alcohol. After fermentation, the wine underwent ageing in French oak barriques followed by Slavonian oak casks, fostering depth. Aromatic notes of sour cherries, tar, and dried rose petals emerge, leading to a linear mouthfeel that promises longevity, emphasising the unique character of the Camp Gros terroir, which is emblematic of the Marchesi di Grésy estate`s heritage.

The 2008 Barbaresco Camp Gros is slightly more ethereal and yet at the same time more structured than the Gaiun. In other words, the 2008 is a typical Barbaresco that is deep yet weightless. Menthol, exotic spices, tar, dried roses and licorice are all woven together in a fabric of unusual class. The super-classic texture is totally inviting. Anticipated maturity. 2016-2028. - Antonio Galloni
