The 2022 Aubert UV-SL Vineyard Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard wine from the Sonoma Coast. The wine is sourced from the UV-SL vineyard, which is named after the late vineyard manager Ulises Valdez Senior and its location on Stoetz Lane. This is one of the furthest western vineyards in the Sonoma Coast appellation, situated only six miles from the Pacific Ocean. This Pinot Noir is one of the most intense in the Aubert portfolio, offering a dense, full-bodied palate. The 2022 vintage displays powerful scents of wild blueberries, fresh blackberries and pomegranate, with complementary notes of violet, tar and garrigue, a fantastic backbone of freshness and firm, grainy tannins.

Deep ruby-purple in color, the 2022 UV-SL Vineyard Pinot Noir gallops out with powerful scents pf wild blueberries, fresh blackberries, and pomegranate, leading to suggestions of violets, tar, and tilled soil with a touch of garrigue. The full-bodied palate is bright, energetic, and crunchy, featuring a fantastic backbone of freshness to lift the densely laden black and red berry layers, supported by firm, grainy tannins, finishing with epic length and fabulously fragrant. This vineyard is named after one of Sonoma’s most reputable vineyard managers, Ulises Valdez Sr. (UV), who passed away recently. The site is on Stoetz Lane (SL), only six miles from the Pacific Ocean, up on the hills around Graton and Occidental. Aubert and Valdez Sr. collaborated on the planting of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir here. These Pinot vines were planted in 2006. The soils here have volcanic upheavals and the ocean is so close that this place can handle those heatwaves. 1,100 cases were made.Lisa Perrotti-Brown24th September 2023

The 2022 Pinot Noir UV-SL Vineyard is laced with dark cherry, menthol, spice, dried flowers and blood orange. Medium in body, with terrific depth, the 2022 is another impeccable wine from Mark Aubert. Time in the glass brings out the wine’s breadth. Clones planted here are Vosne-Romanée, Calera and some Swan. This is the highest-elevation site in the Aubert portfolio.Antonio Galloni23rd May 2024

Aubert

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
