The Aubert Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay 2010 is a standout from one of California`s most revered wineries. Crafted from meticulously selected grapes, it is made from the old Wente clone, a variety favoured by top winemakers. This wine reveals a complex profile, with enticing notes of citrus, stone fruit, and a hint of subtle oak. On the palate, it shows a harmonious balance of acidity, leading into a long, lingering finish. Located in Sonoma County, the Ritchie Vineyard is renowned for producing exceptional Chardonnay, benefiting from the region’s cool climate and diverse soils. These unique terroir characteristics impart complexity and remarkable ageing potential to the wine.

The 2010 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard comes across as implosive and structured. Today the wine is quite reticent, as it is showing just the barest hint of its potential. The 2010 Ritchie impresses for its power and energy. This tightly coiled Chardonnay needs another year or two in bottle to show the full breadth of its potential. These 36 year-old vines are the oldest Aubert works with.

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
