The Reuling Vineyard was initially developed by Mark Aubert and Peter Michael Winery and has become known as one of the premier sites for Chardonnay in Forestville, Sonoma County. Though no longer produced by Aubert, the 2005 is a wonderful mature wine of which only 350 cases were ever released. It has the classical Aubert flamboyance and richness but is indelibly hallmarked by the striking minerality and honeyed overtones so strongly associated with the vineyard.
95 Vinous
- (15.6% alcohol; 70% new oak) Pale green-tinged color. Aromas and flavors of dried pineapple, grapefruit, nutmeg and minerals. Hugely rich and dense, with a compellingly pliant, silky texture and great fullness and volume. As rich and chewy as this is, there is no sign of phenolic character on the back end. Subtle vanilla and smoke notes from the oak add complexity.

Sublime Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Aubert was founded by Mark and Theresa Aubert in 2000, located on the famous Silverado trail in Calistoga. Before he and his partner opened Aubert, Mark had gained experience at the Peter Michael Winery and Colgin Cellars and also made wine at a 'custom crush' facility in California. Aubert have some proprietary vineyards, around three and half acres in Sonoma, which they bottle under the 'UV' label. The remainder of the fruit is sourced from selected vineyards across Sonoma and Napa.

In the world of wine, Aubert is really a byword for world-class single vineyard or single block Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards they source from represent a mix of terroirs and include some old vines as well as some recent plantings. What remains consistent through all these bottlings is the preservation of fruit character and an extreme obsession with quality.
