Situated adjacent to the vineyards of Château du Tertre and Château Giscours, Angludet is one of the stars of the Cru Bourgeois category. The wines are medium bodied and classically styled with great ageing potential. A fine blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 12% Petit Verdot, the 2012 showcases superb black fruit character with a savoury twist.

Biodynamic winemaking in Médoc

Home to the Sichel wine merchant family since 1961, Château Angludet is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Although officially a Cru Bourgeois property, Angludet has made great strides in recent years and nowadays makes wines which are considered to be of Grand Cru Classé quality.

Angludet owns a single 32-hectare vineyard overlooking the Gironde estuary in Margaux, where the gravelly, sandy soils produce wines with particular finesse and elegance. Cabernet Sauvignon is the main grape variety planted, representing 46% of plantings. Merlot (41%) and Petit Verdot (13%) make up the remainder.

Since 1989 the property has been run by Benjamin Sichel, one of whose most important innovations has been the introduction of biodynamic viticulture (the estate has been certified biodynamic since 2022). Combined with Benjamin’s great skill as a winemaker, this has greatly contributed to the vitality and balance of the estate’s wines, which are consistently among Margaux’s finest.
