Château Angludet is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc, with a history that goes back to the 12th century. The estate has been owned by the Sichel family [co-owners of Château Palmer] since 1961 and is currently the residence of Ben Sichel. This 1982 expression has aged beautifully, displaying notes of blueberries, Parma violets and baking spices, complemented by some tertiary notes.

The 1982 d'Angludet is a vintage that I have not tasted before. Showing less evolution in hue than expected, it has a slightly ferrous nose that's a little rustic in style yet retains admirable vigor. The palate has a melted quality, fleshy and quite deep, with plenty of truffle-infused black fruit tones. It gently builds toward a plummy finish. This is not complex yet very satisfying. It will not improve with bottle age, but well-kept bottles should be sought out. Tasted at the château.Neal Martin25th March 2025

This wine was drinkable when released and has managed to hang on to much of its fruit. It is not going to improve, and is best consumed over the next several years. Round and supple, with light amber at the edge, this loosely built wine exhibits some of the ripeness of the vintage, slightly above average depth, and easy-going, simple flavors and finish. Never impressive (the 1983 is significantly better), the 1982 d'Angludet is a wine to drink up . Tasted 4 times after bottling with inconsistent tasting notes.Robert Parker23rd December 1995

Biodynamic winemaking in Médoc

Home to the Sichel wine merchant family since 1961, Château Angludet is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc, with a history dating back to the 12th century. Although officially a Cru Bourgeois property, Angludet has made great strides in recent years and nowadays makes wines which are considered to be of Grand Cru Classé quality.

Angludet owns a single 32-hectare vineyard overlooking the Gironde estuary in Margaux, where the gravelly, sandy soils produce wines with particular finesse and elegance. Cabernet Sauvignon is the main grape variety planted, representing 46% of plantings. Merlot (41%) and Petit Verdot (13%) make up the remainder.

Since 1989 the property has been run by Benjamin Sichel, one of whose most important innovations has been the introduction of biodynamic viticulture (the estate has been certified biodynamic since 2022). Combined with Benjamin’s great skill as a winemaker, this has greatly contributed to the vitality and balance of the estate’s wines, which are consistently among Margaux’s finest.
