Amiral de Beychevelle 2009 is a compelling expression from this renowned producer. Crafted from a blend predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, it undergoes the same stringent selection and traditional barrel ageing as its esteemed counterpart, Beychevelle. The wine exhibits a youthful vivacity, thanks to its refined growing techniques and meticulous sorting processes. While it can be enjoyed upon release, it holds the potential for maturation over the next decade. Beychevelle is historically linked with the maritime heritage of Bordeaux, featuring a distinctive ship emblem on its label.

Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Amiral de Beychevelle opens with fragrant notions of preserved blackberries, blackcurrant cordial and Black Forest cake with touches of Chinese five spice, menthol, new leather and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate reveals a taut, chewy frame with bags of earth-laced fruit and a spicy finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
