Abreu Thorevilos 2013 is a Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blend from the Thorevilos Vineyard in Napa Valley. The wine exhibits complex layers of blackcurrant, plum and hints of cedar, and is a wine reflective of the varying microclimates across the vineyard`s 20-acre expanse. Managed by renowned winemaker David Abreu, the winery prioritises sustainable practices, ensuring the careful selection of fruit at optimal ripeness. The vineyard`s rocky volcanic soils contribute to the wine`s depth and structure, while the winery’s focus on minimal intervention during the winemaking process allows the fruit`s character to shine.

The 2013 Thorevilos is a wild, exotic wine. Blueberry jam, crème de cassis, lavender, pencil shavings, cloves, licorice and dark chocolate all run through this potent, deep red. Young and vibrant, as all the 2013s are here, the Thorevilos possesses tremendous energy from start to finish. A whole range of savory and floral notes linger on the huge, tannic finish. This is sculpted and delicious, but it still needs time.Antonio Galloni9th May 2024

Terroir Driven Cabernet Sauvignon

David Abreu established his eponymous winery in the 1980s, purchasing the Madrona Ranch and converting it into a mix of farmland and vineyards. The Thorevilos and Capella vineyards were added a few years later and Las Posadas, a Howell Mountain vineyard, was added to the estate's holdings in the year 2000. The result is something quite unique in Napa - a collection of distinct sites all producing world class, terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker for the last 20 years is former chef turned viticulturist Brad Grimes. Brad keeps the focus of the estate firmly set on the founder's original goal - to emulate the finest wines of Pauillac and Margaux. Based on the long waiting list and never-ended near-perfect critic scores, he's hit a home run in that department.
