The 2002 Madrona Ranch offers up a super-classic bouquet redolent of bay leaf, spice, tobacco and cedar. Hints of dried flowers complement the natural richness and ripeness of the growing season. As a result, it is a very complete wine. The 2002 has developed quite well.Antonio Galloni9th May 2024

Terroir Driven Cabernet Sauvignon

David Abreu established his eponymous winery in the 1980s, purchasing the Madrona Ranch and converting it into a mix of farmland and vineyards. The Thorevilos and Capella vineyards were added a few years later and Las Posadas, a Howell Mountain vineyard, was added to the estate's holdings in the year 2000. The result is something quite unique in Napa - a collection of distinct sites all producing world class, terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker for the last 20 years is former chef turned viticulturist Brad Grimes. Brad keeps the focus of the estate firmly set on the founder's original goal - to emulate the finest wines of Pauillac and Margaux. Based on the long waiting list and never-ended near-perfect critic scores, he's hit a home run in that department.
