Abreu Cappella 2014 is a Napa Valley red blend comprising 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec. This wine displays characteristic minerality coupled with earthy tones, alongside intricate notes of blackberries, toasty oak, liquorice and subtle spice. The full-bodied structure offers a layered mid-palate and ripe tannins, complemented by a balanced finish. Renowned for their single-vineyard wines, Abreu Vineyards focuses on small-batch production, ensuring each bottle reflects the unique terroir of the vineyard. This vintage is approachable now but is capable of ageing for two to three decades.

The 2014 Cappella is a very sexy, elegant wine. What a joy. Aromatic, vibrant and lifted, the 2014 is captivating right out of the gate. Crushed flowers, small red-toned fruits, cinnamon, mocha and rose petal lift from the glass. Silky tannins extend the long, harmonious finish. More than anything else, I admire the wine's freshness and extraordinary balance.Antonio Galloni1st January 2025

Terroir Driven Cabernet Sauvignon

David Abreu established his eponymous winery in the 1980s, purchasing the Madrona Ranch and converting it into a mix of farmland and vineyards. The Thorevilos and Capella vineyards were added a few years later and Las Posadas, a Howell Mountain vineyard, was added to the estate's holdings in the year 2000. The result is something quite unique in Napa - a collection of distinct sites all producing world class, terroir-driven Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker for the last 20 years is former chef turned viticulturist Brad Grimes. Brad keeps the focus of the estate firmly set on the founder's original goal - to emulate the finest wines of Pauillac and Margaux. Based on the long waiting list and never-ended near-perfect critic scores, he's hit a home run in that department.
