The Aalto PS 2004 is a complex expression of Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero region, crafted by Bodegas Aalto, founded by Javier Zaccagnini and Mariano García. The wine offers a pronounced aroma of cedar and oak, intertwined with dark fruit notes and a hint of menthol. On the palate, it presents an opulent entry, revealing flavours of ripe cherry and soy, supported by firm tannins. The finish is persistently structured, showcasing elements of balsamic reduction. This vintage exemplifies the meticulous craftsmanship of Aalto’s winemaking philosophy.

Dark ruby. Strongly perfumed scents of exotic cherry-cola, blackberry, vanilla and Asian spices. Weighty but focused dark fruit flavors offer striking clarity and palate-staining concentration, with soft tannins building on the close. The cola quality lingers on the long, sweet finish. This wonderfully balances richness and vivacity. Josh Raynolds1st September 2007

Cask sample. For this vintage they started to use less new oak. Sweeter, more jagged, more exaggerated than the regular 2004 bottling which I prefer at this stage, although the PS wine may settle down and eventually have a longer life (hence the + sign). Almost perfumey. Rich. This may well develop into something even more exciting than the 2001 PS.(JR)

Crafting Ribera's Finest Elegance

In 1999, Mariano García and Javier Zaccagnini founded Aalto with the vision of creating world-class wines in Ribera del Duero. Mariano, a former winemaker at Vega Sicilia, and Javier, once the head of the Ribera del Duero regulatory council, bring unparalleled expertise to the project. Aalto's vineyards, comprising 130 hectares of old Tinto Fino vines, are scattered across nine municipalities, ensuring rich diversity in their wines. The modern winery in Quintanilla de Arriba, designed with minimalist elegance, utilizes gravity flow for gentle handling of the grapes. Aalto's wines, known for their depth, balance, and aging potential, reflect the true character of their prestigious region.
