Aalto PS 2004 is a full-bodied red wine produced from Tempranillo grapes in the Ribera del Duero region of Spain. Aalto Bodegas y Viñedos was established in 1999 in Ribera del Duero, one of Spain’s most prestigious wine regions right now. Aalto is a partnership between Javier Zaccagnini and winemaker Mariano García, who worked at the iconic Vega Sicilia for 30 years. Aalto PS is special cuvée crafted from old-vine plots situated in La Horra and La Aguilera (`PS` stands for `Pagos Seleccionadas, indicating these special vineyard selections). Aged for 21 months in new French oak barrels, the wine is known for its intense concentration, depth, and complexity. On the 2004 vintage. "Fascinating insight into ageability of PS (Pagos Seleccionadas) in a very good year. Gloriously aromatic, floral, and black fruits. Bright, fresh, complex, with a clean, mineral edge. Still so young, a sign of the potential of Ribera del Duero." Decanter, 2015

Dark ruby. Strongly perfumed scents of exotic cherry-cola, blackberry, vanilla and Asian spices. Weighty but focused dark fruit flavors offer striking clarity and palate-staining concentration, with soft tannins building on the close. The cola quality lingers on the long, sweet finish. This wonderfully balances richness and vivacity. Josh Raynolds1st September 2007

Crafting Ribera's Finest Elegance

In 1999, Mariano García and Javier Zaccagnini founded Aalto with the vision of creating world-class wines in Ribera del Duero. Mariano, a former winemaker at Vega Sicilia, and Javier, once the head of the Ribera del Duero regulatory council, bring unparalleled expertise to the project. Aalto's vineyards, comprising 130 hectares of old Tinto Fino vines, are scattered across nine municipalities, ensuring rich diversity in their wines. The modern winery in Quintanilla de Arriba, designed with minimalist elegance, utilizes gravity flow for gentle handling of the grapes. Aalto's wines, known for their depth, balance, and aging potential, reflect the true character of their prestigious region.
