What makes a wine worthy of being called Grand Cru? And can the concept of Grand Cru exist beyond Burgundy?

Join us for an evening with Adrianna Catena, fourth-generation vintner at Bodega Catena Zapata, as we explore these questions through a comparative tasting of some of the world’s most celebrated wines alongside the wines of Catena Zapata.

The tasting will bring together Grand Cru wines from Burgundy and some of Tuscany’s finest, alongside a selection of Catena Zapata’s most distinguished bottlings, including wines from the Adrianna Vineyard in Mendoza. Located at almost 1,500 metres above sea level, the vineyard has earned a reputation as one of South America’s great terroirs.

Founded in 1902, Bodega Catena Zapata has played a defining role in the story of Argentine wine, from the revival of Malbec to the exploration of high-altitude vineyards in the Andes. Adrianna’s perspective extends beyond winemaking: a historian with MPhil and DPhil degrees from Oxford, she brings a unique understanding of how place, history and culture shape the way we think about wine.

During the tasting, Adrianna Catena will guide guests through a side-by-side comparison of the wines, exploring their different expressions of place and terroir. An evening of conversation, comparison and great wines, hosted by one of Argentina’s leading voices in wine.
