Marsannay

Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, France

The Marsannay appellation extends across the communes of Chenôve, Marsannay-la-Côte and Couchey, with vineyards planted along the best parts of the hill slope running from north to south, from about 250m to 400m elevation. The soils of Marsannay are extremely varied, however the best vineyards tend to be planted on soils composed of calcareous clay. Two vineyard areas in particular - Clos du Roy and Les Longeroies – are considered by many to be worthy of Premier Cru status.
