Perelada & Melonera

Tuesday, 26th June 2018, 6.30 - 8.30pm
Hosted by Patrice Lesclaux

In its modern incarnation, the Perelada winery was founded in the early 1920s by Miguel Mateu. Miguel had then just recently purchased the historic Castillo Perelada in Cataluña & was interested in reviving the traditional wine making techniques of the region. Miguel's son-in-law Arturo Suqué took charge in the 1970s & made quality his main focus. Nowadays the winery is in the hands of Javier Suqué Mateu & continues to focus on quality & locality, making Perelada one of Spain's most lauded wineries. The winery have also expanded their vineyard holdings to Andalucía, where they focus on resurrecting & promoting forgotten local grape varieties under the Melonera label.
Hedonism welcomes Perelada's-own Patrice Lesclaux to the store to present a fabulous tasting of six of the estate's finest wines. Guests will have the chance to sample Melonera Mankind Heritage Vines 2015, Encina del Ingles Blanco 2016, Finca Garbet 2009 & 2013 & Ex Ex 11 2013.

Tickets for this event are £35 redeemable against any purchase of Perelada wines on the evening of the tasting.

The Henschke family have a long & distinguished history in Barossa's Eden Valley. Their first commercial vintage was 1868 & for the first 75 years the Henschke name was synonymous with the fortified wines which were fashionable in Australia at the time. It wasn't until the great Cyril Henschke took control of the winemaking in 1940s & 1950s that the Henschke name began to be associated with quality dry wines.
Nowadays, the winemaking team is led by sixth-generation family member Johann Henschke, who we are delighted to have in-store to present this fantastic event.
