Yquem 2014 is a mature-vintage noble sweet wine produced in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux. Located in the heart of the Sauternes appellation on Bordeaux`s Left Bank, Yquem is the most prestigious producer of sweet wines in the world, and the only Sauternes producer to be granted the status of `Premier Cru Supérieur`. The estate vineyard is planted mostly Sémillon, with a smaller proportion of Sauvignon Blanc, as reflected in the wine`s blend. Harvest can involve up to 200 workers, who may pass through the vineyard up to 10 times to pick only those berries that have been infected with `noble rot`, the fungus which shrivels and dehydrates the grape berries, concentrating their sugars. On the 2014. "Very subtle Yquem on the nose with dried pineapple, lemons, green apples and hints of botrytis. The palate grabs you by the arms and shows you superb concentration of spices, dried fruit, phenolics and incredible energy. Nothing is like this from Sauternes this vintage! Drink whenever you like. Spellbinding." James Suckling, 2017

Pale straw-gold in color, the 2014 d'Yquem is a little subdued to start off, unfurling to reveal notes of candied orange peel, baked peaches, and beeswax plus touches of dried persimmon and mango. The palate delivers delightfully bright layers and a crisp backbone, finishing with great length and depth.Lisa Perrotti-Brown5th March 2024

The 2014 Yquem has a potent nose with yellow plum, tangerine, peach and honey, exuberant and with plenty of botrytis. There is a real presence in this wine. The palate is well balanced with an unctuous entry and a keen thread of acidity, effervescent with blood orange, white peaches and pineapple toward the finish. Very persistent in the mouth, this is clearly an excellent Sauternes that constantly improves in the glass. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. Neal Martin19th March 2024
