Château d’Yquem is a Premier Cru Supérieur Classé property that not only sits atop the highest hills in Sauternes, it also overshadows most other sweet wines in the world in terms of its extraordinary consistency, complexity and longevity. Widely considered to be one of the world`s greatest sweet wines, this is a wine with great balance and complexity, which can age for decades with ease. The 2013 vintage is very "botrytised", with richness and candied fruit flavours balanced by an elegant freshness.
96 The Wine Independent
A blend of 70% Semillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc, with 140 grams per liter of residual sugar, the 2013 Yquem has a medium straw-gold color. It is just starting to evolve into notes of straw, cashew nuts, and honey toast, with a core of apple pie, pear tart, and key lime pie. The palate is relatively elegant and refreshing, with a satiny texture and a refreshing lift on the finish.Lisa Perrotti-Brown14th August 2023
95 Jane Anson
Hints of saffon and fresh truffle, dominated by juicy peach, apricot pit, satsuma and lemon peel notes, so drinkable and graceful, drawn out, languid, pleasurable. Less concentrated than the 2022 and 1989 that we also tasted over this incredible lunch, but full of grace, in its drinking window and yet sure to age for decades. The 2013 Yquem is consistent with previous encounters. It has a fresh nose thanks to the contribution of the 30% Sauvignon Blanc, not as complex as other vintages, yet delineated with lemon rind and lychee hints bubbling up with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a keen line of acidity, pure and beautifully integrated with the oak, yet missing the complexity of a top-flight Yquem. Neal Martin1st August 2023
