Château d`Yquem is widely considered to be one of the world`s greatest sweet wines, this is a wine with great balance and complexity, which can age for decades with ease. A beautifully balanced vintage produced from very ripe and concentrated grapes.
98 Vinous
This bottle of 1967 Yquem was poured following a Petrus vertical at Hide restaurant alongside the 1893. Very concentrated grapes were picked from 26 September to 26 October. It has a wonderful bouquet, entrancing, scents of dried honey, crème brûlée, caramelised pear, fresh figs and quince bursting from the glass with fabulous delineation. Almost Barsac-like in style. The palate is lightly-spiced on the entry with tangy tangerine and marmalade notes, fig and quince, viscous and mouth-coating. This is a decadent and multi-dimensional Yquem that shows no signs of slowing down as it passes its fifth decade. Probably the best of around half-a-dozen bottles tasted over the years. 97 The Wine Independent
The 1967 is a legendary vintage of Yquem, but this bottle was a tick or two down from the greatest bottles I've tasted. (It was sourced directly from the Chateau.) It has a medium amber-brown color. The nose is profound with earthy notions of fallen leaves, white truffles, and crushed rocks, giving way to a pronounced core of apricot tart, persimmon butter, quince paste, and allspice, with a fragrant waft of jasmine tea. The palate is elegantly crafted with flashy mineral and floral sparks lifting the tight-knit stone fruit and citrus flavors, finishing long and minerally.Lisa Perrotti-Brown4th September 2023
