`Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2022 is a single-vineyard white wine from the Mornington Peninsula of Victoria, Australia. Yabby Lake Vineyard was established by the award-winning and Burgundy-obsessed winemaker Tom Carson in 1998. Over the past decade, the estate has built a reputation for benchmark-setting single-vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Producer note. "The potential of this wine is apparent from the first time you look at it. The colour is super bright with green tints, the aromas are fresh, pure and intense. Grapefruit, citrus blossom and a hint of lime, with a lovely flinty note underlying. There is a nice layer of almond meal and cashew nut from the barrel fermentation. The palate is intense with layers of deeply textured and concentrated fruit. White stone fruit and pithy grapefruit weave through a tightly wound and piercingly intense mineral finish that goes on and on. Cellar for at lease five years, the wine will go well past 10 years."

The well-endowed 2022 Chardonnay Single Vineyard comes from a warmer site on Mornington Peninsula with impressive fruit and oak in unison. Melon and peach skin aromas are entwined with oatmeal barrel ferment and vanillin oak. There's good overall density to this complete package. Crisp acidity keeps the robust flavor and weight in check. Already ready to enjoy but will hold over the medium term.
