Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux Vosne-Romanée Les Hautes Maizières 2014 is a village Burgundy Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits. Straddling the border between Vosne-Romanée and the Flagey-Echézeaux, to the direct east of the village of Vosne and south-east of Romanée St-Vivant, Les Hautes Maizières is regarded as one of the finest village terroirs in the region - and may be considered a 1er Cru in all but name. Under the direction of young vigneron Charles Lachaux, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux has become one of the most sought-after producers of fine Burgundy in recent years. 2014 was only Charles`s third full-time vintage in charge of his family domaine. His wines have since gone on to achieve cult status. "This is also quite deeply pitched with a similar fruit profile to the straight Vosne villages. There is good mid-palate density to the velvety and sleek medium weight flavours that are supported by slightly finer tannins on the impressively well-balanced, complex and persistent finale. Good stuff and worth a look." Burghound, 2016
Vinous
(40% vendange entier; 30% new oak): Bright, dark red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, minerals, cocoa powder and exotic spices; this could only be Vosne-Romanée. Lush, sweet and soft on entry, then firmer in the middle; this reminded me a bit of a mini-Suchots, as it combines the power of this terroir with the fresh limestone lift of Chambolle. The tannins spread out to cover the palate on the spicy finish.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2016
