The Vosne-Romanée Les Genaivrières Domaine Leroy 1998 is a notable expression of red Burgundy, made by Lalou Bize-Leroy, a renowned figure in biodynamic viticulture. This particular wine emerged from a vintage marked by variability, yet the domaine`s strict adherence to low yields and natural methods contributes to its distinct character. It reveals a layered profile with aromas of red fruits, sour cherries, earthy undertones and hints of spices. The palate is defined by a structured acidity and refined tannins, reflecting its methodical production. This wine exemplifies the meticulous craftsmanship of Domaine Leroy.

Bright, deep ruby-red. Bright, pure, intensely fruity aromas of blackberry, raspberry and black cherry. Sappy, dense and delineated, with an almost salty impression of extract. Lovely sweetness of fruit. Finishes with very fine tannins. Very strong for this wine.

Burgundian Royalty

The Leroy name is a key pillar of the Burgundian wine scene and a leading light in the Côte d'Or, with three main strands: Domaine Leroy, Maison Leroy and Domaine d'Auvenay (a small, biodynamically farmed Domaine founded by Lalou in 1988).

In 1988, recognising the trend towards domaine bottling in Burgundy, Lalou Bize-Leroy purchased what would become Domaine Leroy: an estate situated in Vosne-Romanée (previously known by the name Domaine Noëllat). Domaine Leroy labelled wines are thus are produced from parcels of grapes grown on the 22ha of domaine-owned Côte d'Or vineyards, which span nine different Grand Crus. These wines are produced biodynamically and at extremely low yields, resulting in superbly concentrated expressions of the Burgundian terroir.
