Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 2002 is a mature 1er Cru Burgundy Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits. The climat of Les Beaux Monts lies above Echézeaux Grand Cru, with a small section crossing the boundary into Echézeaux itself. Several of its parcels straddle the border between Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Echézeaux to the west. Jean Grivot is one of the great names of Vosne-Romanée winemaking. Winemaking is now increasingly overseen by Mathilde, daughter of Étienne and Marielle. Meticulous work in the vineyard is aimed at producing fruit of impeccable quality. In the cellar, the fruit is completely destemmed following a pre-ferment cold maceration for around one week. The wines are matured in oak barrels for 15-20 months (up to 40% new for the domaine`s best wines). "Very deep crimson. Sweet and extremely fruity on the nose. Glamorous spread of fruit and great structure. Really successful. Lovely balance of elements..." Jancis Robinson MW, 2004

Vinous
Deep red. Enticing aromas of minerals, flowers, red licorice and earth. Impressively glyceral on entry, then sweet and silky in the middle, with noteworthy energy and grip. Impressively concentrated and dense wine, with an explosive, rising finish and terrific cut. This should be at its peak between 2010 and 2017, says Grivot.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2005
