Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux-Monts Domaine Dujac 2015 is a Premier Cru red wine from the celebrated Burgundy estate Domaine Dujac. The 2015 vintage was a warm and generous year, resulting in a wine with extraordinary concentration and a lush fruit profile of dark cherries and plums. Les Beaux-Monts is located high on the slope above Échezeaux, where the cooler altitude provides a necessary freshness to balance the richness of the year. The wine was produced using Dujac’s signature whole-cluster fermentation, which adds a complex spicy and floral dimension to the palate. It is a powerful and structured Vosne-Romanée that possesses the balance and depth to age for many years.

Healthy medium red. Distinctly more minerally on the nose than the Charmes-Chambertin, offering complex scents of black raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, violet and dark chocolate. More open-knit on the palate as well, but at the same time a bit more monolithic than its younger 2016 sibling, conveying a touch of smoky reduction to its very dense, ripe flavors of purple fruits, chocolate and minerals. Still, this very ripe, tactile wine has the stuffing to support its big, broad tannins, which reach the front teeth.Stephen Tanzer1st January 2018

Not racked. Vosne edgy and a bit green. Just a bit tough at the moment. Dry end. The stage rather than the wine? (JR)

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
