Based in Prémeaux-Prissey, Domaine Prieuré-Roch is a prestigious wine estate founded in 1988 by the late Henry-Frédéric Roch. Henry, who sadly passed away in 2018, was also the co-director – along with Aubert de Villaine – of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti from 1992 until his untimely death. Today, the estate covers approximately 16 hectares of vines of which 12 are in the Côte de Nuits. The winemaking philosophy at the domaine is built upon an organic approach to viticulture. The result are wines of extraordinary aromatics and energy, with remarkable acidity and ripe, complex fruits. This release comes from Le Clos Goillotte, a single vineyard situated within the Vosne-Romanée appellation, where the vines are on average 45 years old.

A Burgundian Titan

Founded in 1988 by Henri-Frédéric Roch, whose family are part-owners of the famous Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Prieure Roch produce wine from vineyard parcels in communes as diverse as Ladoix, Chambertin, Vosne Romanée and Savigny Les Beune. Farming of the vineyards is done to organic standards, veering towards full biodynamics in some instances and cellar techniques are strictly traditional - vinified in large wooden vats, manual punching down and without the use of sulphur.

Wines are kept in barrel for 12-24 months before bottling, although some experiments with extended ageing have taken place - most notably in 2002. These are elegant wines with the ripeness and poise that one would expect from a family that also produce arguable some of the world's great Pinot Noir.
