Domaine Jean Grivot Vosne-Romanée 2001 is a mature village Burgundy Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits. Jean Grivot is one of the great names of Vosne-Romanée winemaking. Winemaking is now increasingly overseen by Mathilde, daughter of Étienne and Marielle. Meticulous work in the vineyard is aimed at producing fruit of impeccable quality. In the cellar, the fruit is completely destemmed following a pre-ferment cold maceration for around one week. The wines are matured in oak barrels for 15-20 months (up to 40% new for the domaine`s best wines). "Sappy, higher-pitched aromas of raspberry and flowers. Silky on entry, then sweeter and more aromatic in the middle palate. Offers surprising volume for this cuvée, especially for the 2001 vintage. Here the tannins are sweeter." International Wine Cellar, 2004
