The 2016 Vosne-Romanée Aux Malconsorts 1er Cru, which had recently been bottled, has a tightly wound but intense bouquet that responds to aeration. The fruit appears a little darker than the 2015 with just a touch of pressed iris coming through. The palate is well balanced with a fresh, quite grippy entry. I admire the focus and precision on the display here and like the 2015, the stem addition is judiciously interwoven into the fabric so that it does not impede upon terroir expression. It feels long and tender on the finish, completing a Malconsorts with immense potential. Tasted at Flint Wines's Domaine Dujac tasting in London.Neal Martin1st March 2019

Mid cherry red. Plenty of spice on the nose at first, then it settles down to reveal peppery red fruit, not sweet but definitely red-fruited. Deep, deep fruit on the palate, the oak spice very present but well integrated. Firm but so smooth. Rich and long. Tannins build to a more chewy and fresh finish. Excellent harmony and balance for a long future. (JH)Julia Harding30th May 2018

A Focus on Terroir

Founded in the late 1960s by Jacques Seysses, who purchased and renovated Domaine Graillet in Morey-St-Denis. The estate is currently run by Jacques' sons Jeremy and Alec, who farm around 17 hectares of vines across the Côte including holdings in Echezeaux, Clos de la Roche, Charmes-Chambertin and Bonnes Mares.

A natural approach is taken in the vineyard and cellar with the estate moving from organic farming to fully biodynamic in the mid 2000s, receiving their certification in 2011. The team's focus is on elegance - temperatures are controlled to keep alcohol in check and also limit malolactic fermentation while juice from the crush is fed into the cellar by gravity only without the use of pumping. The wines of Domaine Dujac represent pure, balanced expressions of their respective terroirs.
