The Volnay Pitures Nicolas Potel 1999 presents a bouquet of red fruit, featuring notes of sour cherry and raspberry, alongside earthy undertones. The palate is marked by a medium body, showcasing a blend of vibrant acidity and subtle tannins. Its structure reflects the influence of the Burgundy region, renowned for producing nuanced Pinot Noir wines that age gracefully.
This wine is sourced from the Volnay appellation in Côte de Beaune, which is known for elegant reds with finesse. The 1999 growing season had favorable conditions, leading to a harvest that yielded grapes with concentrated flavors. While this wine can be enjoyed now, it also possesses the potential for further aging, allowing its complexity to evolve over time.

Vinous
Saturated ruby-red. Very pure, complex aromas of raspberry, cherry and gunflint, plus a hint of exotic fruits. Rich, dense and sweet; combines unusual volume, a large structure and noteworthy class. Powerful finish features a taste of bitter chocolate. The yield here was around 44 hectoliters per hectare, says Potel, as it is every year in this rocky parcel.Stephen Tanzer1st March 2001
