Domaine Henri Boillot is both a wine estate and a négociant based in Meursault. The Domaine was established by Henri Boillot in 2005, although the Boillot family has a long history in winemaking that stretches back several generations. This cuvée comes from the Volnay Premier Cru ‘Les Chevrets’, where Henri Boillot owns a 2-hectare plot. Planted in clay and limestone soils, the vines here are approximately 60 years old, producing more concentrated fruit.
Vinous
The 2022 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru is a classic Boillot wine. It bursts from the glass with racy red/purplish fruit. Lavender, rose petal, cinnamon and new leather are all beautifully delineated. There’s a touch of new oak, but it suits the style here quite well. - Antonio Galloni

Father and Son

In some ways, Henri Boillot has one foot in the past and one in the present. His family domaine, which he manages with his son Guillaume, has a history dating back to the 1880s, but the wines produced from their Meursault-based winery are undeniably modern, approachable and ranked among some of the very best in the region. Alongside operating a highly successful négociant business, the Boillot family own around 14 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune including a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru monopole in the form of Clos de la Mouchère.

The winery don't shy away from the use of new oak and any overtly woody character is generally well balanced by ripe fruit. The Chardonnays range from citrus driven and fresher at the villages level all the way to ripe, tropical and creamy at the Grand Cru level. The reds are lighter and more elegant than they used to be with Henri's son Guillaume preferring a less extracted style of Pinot Noir.
