Established in 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud have achieved an incredible amount in a short space of time with Château Valandraud, achieving St-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) status and earning a reputation as one of the benchmark producers of the region. Virginie represents the estate’s second label and the white is generally a blend of predominantly Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Lovely notes ranging from citrus, to stone fruit, to quince and floral and hitting a beautiful balance between freshness and richness.

Vinous
The 2019 Virginie de Valandraud Blanc has a well-defined bouquet featuring touches of wild peach and honeysuckle, and a faint hazelnut scent that emerges with time. The oak here (20–30% new) is well integrated. The balanced palate delivers a fine bead of acidity, notes of pear, nectarine and orange zest, and a lively, fresh finish. Very fine.
