Established in 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud have achieved an incredible amount in a short space of time with Château Valandraud, achieving St-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) status and earning a reputation as one of the benchmark producers of the region. Virginie represents the estate’s second label and the white is generally a blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Medium-bodied and satin textured, it is vibrant, zesty and fresh, with wonderful notes of yuzu citrus, white orchard fruits and lemongrass. This would be the ideal accompaniment to fresh seafood, particularly oysters.

Vinous
The 2018 Virginie de Valandraud Blanc retains its attractiveness on the nose, displaying less of the dried honey element but retaining those chalky notes with touches of yellow plum and honeysuckle. The palate is fresh with fine acidity, good balance, and fleeting apricot and nectarine notes toward the citric finish. Just a delicious dry white from Jean-Luc Thunevin. Neal Martin21st March 2021
