Established in 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud have achieved an incredible amount in a short space of time with Château Valandraud, achieving St-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) status and earning a reputation as one of the benchmark producers of the region. Virginie represents the estate’s second label and is generally a blend of mostly Merlot, with lesser parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, matured in 100% new French oak.

The 2017 Virginie de Valandraud is dark and rich in the glass, with a striking interplay of dense fruit and more floral, bright notes from the Cabernets in the blend. The 2017 is a gorgeous, super-expressive wine with a ton of potential. Moreover, the Virginie is a wine of real character.Antonio Galloni1st March 2020
Jancis Robinson
The 2017 Virginie de Valandraud is deep garnet-purple in color and offers up aromas of crushed blackberries, warm black cherries and violets with scents of cedar chest and cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied with ripe, plush tannins and great freshness, it delivers a lovely core of pure black fruit and a floral finish.Lisa Perrotti-Brown27th April 2018
