Virginie de Valandraud 1998 is the second wine of Château Valandraud, a notable producer in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru region, recognised for its role in the garage wine movement. This wine is primarily composed of Merlot, supplemented by Cabernet Franc, aligning with the style of its prestigious counterpart. The 1998 vintage demonstrates the region`s capacity for producing concentrated wines, with ripe tannins and pronounced fruit character. Aromas of dark plum, blackberry, and subtle notes of licorice and oak aging provide complexity. The palate reveals a full-bodied nature with rounded tannins and a lengthy finish.

Vinous
Medium red-ruby. Black cherry, tar and oak spice on the nose. Lush and smooth, but with less clarity and density of flavor than the '99. Not especially complex but demonstrates plenty of personality.
