Château Palmer is one of the finest properties within the Margaux appellation which produces elegant Third Growth Bordeaux blends. The estate covers approximately 66 hectares and has been certified organic and biodynamic since the 2018 vintage. The Vin Blanc de Palmer is a relatively new addition to the portfolio, made from an unusual blend of 50% Muscadelle, 35% Loset and 15% Sauvignon Gris. It’s a fruity and fresh expression, offering notes of lychees, white flowers, honeysuckle, a touch of almonds and spices.

The 2020 Vin Blanc de Palmer has a crisp, primal nose with pineapple, mandarin and touches of lychee, though, to be honest, I have discerned a little more complexity in other vintages. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly honeyed texture. A doppelgänger for an Alsace Gewürztraminer thanks to plenty of lychee fruit, this is a delicious white from Palmer that I suspect will drink better in its youth. Classic, Concentrated Margaux

Château Palmer is a 3ème Cru Classé property and is one of the most celebrated estates in the Margaux appellation in Bordeaux, renowned for producing rich and opulent wines with exceptional longevity. The 55 hectare estate is characterised by its mixture of fine and sandy gravels, together with clay soils. The key grape varieties are old vine Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, all farmed biodynamically, resulting in superbly elegant, velvety wines with a wonderful capacity to age and evolve in bottle.

In addition to the first wine, Château Palmer, the estate produces a second red from specific plots, Alter Ego de Palmer. Created to be as equally terroir-driven and expressive as the Grand Vin, the Alter Ego is supple, rounded and more approachable in youth.
