Distilled in 1952 and aged for 12 Years, this bourbon was bottled in late 1965 at 100 proof under the Bottled-in-Bond Act, a hallmark of quality and authenticity. Crafted at the Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively, Kentucky, this expression features wheat as the secondary grain, distinguishing it from rye-based bourbons. The production was overseen by Julian Pappy Van Winkle Senior, a pivotal figure in American whisky history, known for his pioneering techniques. The palate reveals layers of deep caramel, toasted pecans, and dried apricots, reflecting its rich heritage. This release is historically relevant, coinciding with the year of Van Winkle Senior`s passing.
