Having only been established in 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud have achieved an incredible amount in a short space of time with Château Valandraud, achieving St-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé (B) status and earning a reputation as one of the benchmark producers of the region. Though best known for their red wines, they also produce a small amount of white, blended from Sauvignon Gris, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon with an impressive 80% new oak. Made in miniscule quantities, the 2019 showcases beautiful tropicality and floral character with beautiful balance and refreshing acidity.

Vinous
The 2019 Valandraud Blanc has quite a generous nose, creamy new oak combining nicely with the slightly nutty yellow fruit. The palate is well-balanced with a powerful entry, rounded, quite spicy with just a touch of heat on the finish that just gives it a kick. Very fine, but I encountered superior bottles in the past. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. Neal Martin1st February 2023
