Duty Charges

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Raúl Perez is an acclaimed Spanish winemaker, who releases wines through his own label but also works as a consultant to other producers. Raúl is primarily associated with Bierzo and the Mencía grape variety, but he also manages projects in other regions of Spain. Ultreia de Valtuille is one of his most praised cuvées, made from 100-year-old vines from a plot to the west of Valtuille de Abajo. The wine is 100% Mencía, matured in French oak barriques for a minimum of 15 months.

I found more character of the wines from slate soils in the 2019 Ultreia Valtuille, but that is because the percentage of Alicante Bouschet is much higher (from the field blend) due to frost. He also did a very soft vinification and with a shorter maceration. There might be some herbal notes here (boiled vegetables) that remind me of a Cabernet Franc. It has some severe tannins. Unusual. With time in bottle, it might change from an ugly duckling and turn into a swan. A bit of a question mark. There are only 2,500 bottles of this unusual vintage.

Deep, glistening violet. Expansive, spice-tinged black raspberry, cherry cola, licorice and potpourri aromas are complemented by a strong mineral topnote. Youthfully chewy and focused on the palate, offering concentrated yet lively black and blue fruit liqueur, succulent herb and violet pastille flavors and building spiciness. Finishes with repeating floral and dark fruit character, supple, well-knit tannins and outstanding, mineral- and spice-driven tenacity.

Using low-intervention techniques like whole bunch fermentation, natural yeasts, and neutral oak, he crafts wines that are both elegant and energetic, often from incredibly small plots.

From the remarkable value of his Ultreia range to the site-specific character of La Vizcaína bottlings, every wine reflects a thoughtful, hands-off approach that lets the vineyard shine. Minimal intervention, maximum expression, this is modern Spanish winemaking at its most exciting.
