Turley Wine Cellars, founded by Larry Turley in 1993, is renowned for its powerful, site-expressive Zinfandels from old-vine vineyards. The 1997 Aida Vineyard Zinfandel, from Napa Valley, is a bold and structured wine, blending Zinfandel with a proportion of Petite Sirah. Deep ruby in colour, it offers aromas of ripe blackberries, pepper, and dried herbs. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with layers of dark plum, liquorice, and roasted spice, supported by firm tannins. A well-preserved example of Turley’s age-worthy and intensely flavoured style.

- Good ruby color. Syrupy blackberry, black cherry and gunflint aromas reminded me of grenache. Big, thick and superripe; slightly roasted Chateauneuf du Pape-like flavors betray some heat. But very concentrated.
