Torbreck Run Rig 2017 is a Rhône-style Shiraz-Viognier blend from the Barossa Valley. This wine is sourced from low-yielding, old vines, with the inclusion of Viognier intended to enhance aromatics. The profile features dense black fruit, dark chocolate and hints of roasted herbs, complemented by a sturdy tannin structure. Ageing in oak barrels contributes to subtle spice and texture, allowing for complexity without overpowering the fruit. Established in 1994, Torbreck focuses on Rhône varietals and is known for championing old vine heritage within the Barossa.

Inky ruby color. Expansive aromas of dark fruit liqueur, incense, candied flowers, Indian spices and vanilla. Has a smoky mineral quality that gains strength as the wine opens up. Fleshy, sweet and broad on the palate, offering impressively concentrated yet lively blackcurrant, boysenberry and violet pastille flavors that are lifted and sharpened by a smoky mineral flourish. Smooth, seamless and appealingly sweet on an extremely long, floral-dominated finish that"s framed by suave, well-knit tannins.Josh Raynolds1st December 2021

Old-vine Treasures of the Barossa Valley

Founded in 1994 by David Powell, Torbreck has quickly positioned itself as one of the greatest wineries in Australia. This has been partly due to its unwavering commitment to its core vision and not being influenced by trends and fashions. Focusing on Rhone varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre planted in 1840, the fruit here is uniquely rich and concentrated. After manually harvesting, the grapes are fermented in either stainless steel or cement vats. After that, the young wine is transferred into French oak barriques for maturation- usually 20-24 months. The result is bold, flavourful and wines that reflect their origins. These wines maintain a style that is impressively consistent over the vintages, favouring richness but with structure and a distinctive core of energy.
