Torbreck Descendant Magnum 2002 is a blend primarily of Shiraz, Grenache, and Mataro, expressing the characteristics of Barossa Valley fruit. This wine is matured in a mix of new and used French oak, allowing the varietals to develop complexity over time. Aromatic notes may include dark berries, spice, and hints of earthiness. Torbreck, founded in 1994 by David Powell, focuses on highlighting the potential of old vine viticulture. The pairing of tradition with modern techniques provides insight into the region`s viticultural heritage, showcasing the unique terroir inherent to Barossa Valley.

- (shiraz with 8% viognier) Roasted black cherry syrup on the nose, along with an exotic hint of apricot from the viognier. Sappy and fruit-driven, with liqueur-like fla vors of black cherry and black raspberry. Densely packed and sweet. Finishes with substantial ripe tannins that turned a bit dry with aeration.

Old-vine Treasures of the Barossa Valley

Founded in 1994 by David Powell, Torbreck has quickly positioned itself as one of the greatest wineries in Australia. This has been partly due to its unwavering commitment to its core vision and not being influenced by trends and fashions. Focusing on Rhone varieties such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre planted in 1840, the fruit here is uniquely rich and concentrated. After manually harvesting, the grapes are fermented in either stainless steel or cement vats. After that, the young wine is transferred into French oak barriques for maturation- usually 20-24 months. The result is bold, flavourful and wines that reflect their origins. These wines maintain a style that is impressively consistent over the vintages, favouring richness but with structure and a distinctive core of energy.
