Tolpuddle Pinot Noir 2024 is a cool-climate Tasmanian wine from the Coal River Valley, sourced from a vineyard renowned for its flinty soils and maritime influence. This 2024 vintage captures the region`s signature intensity and poise, offering a profile of wild strawberry, rhubarb and a distinct smoky minerality. Winemaking involves a significant portion of whole-cluster fermentation and maturation in French oak to enhance the wine`s structural tension and aromatic lift. Known for its chiselled acidity and savoury complexity, Tolpuddle is a benchmark for Australian Pinot Noir, providing a sophisticated and long-lived expression of its unique southern terroir.

Full screwcapped bottle 1,358 g. Winemaker Adam Wadewitz thinks 2024 is one of their best Pinots, because of the intensity thanks to a reduced crop – and no stress thanks to well-timed rain.

Mid garnet. Intensely spicy nose. High-toned like the 2024 Chardonnay. Sweet and smooth. Very nice texture; ripe tannins on the end but only just perceptible. Sweeter than perfection. Just enough acidity and lots of fruit with already good accessibility. Lip-smacking. Still unformed. (JR)
