Tobermory 27 Year Old Exceptional Cask Selection 1995 is a single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1995 and matured for 27 years in a single bourbon hogshead. This release, part of the Limited label, offers a complex profile that includes notes of orchard fruit, citrus, and spice on the nose. The palate reveals flavours of rich vanilla, toffee, and oak, culminating in a long finish. Tobermory distillery, founded in 1798 on the Isle of Mull, is one of the few distilleries in Scotland to produce both single malt and gin.

The Pride of Mull

Tobermory is situated just outside the town of the same name, the capital of the Hebridean island of Mull. The distillery produces single malt under two different labels - the lightly peated Tobermory and the more heavily peated Ledaig. The distillery itself is one of Scotland's oldest, having been established in 1798 by John Sinclair, a local merchant. Tobermory draw their water from a private Loch and the team operate four wash stills and four spirits stills, producing around one million litres a year. Once filled into barrel, the spirit is aged at Deanston distillery before bottling.

The distillery offers a range of age-statement drams and some limited edition cask finishes while independent bottlings from the likes of Gordon & MacPhail offer the change to sample single cask editions from Tobermory. Beyond the peatiness, the flavour profile ranges from fresh and malty with notes of honeyed orchard fruit to rich and nutty depending on the age and cask finish.
