Château Le Tertre Rôteboeuf is located in the Saint-Laurent-des-Combes commune, just a few kilometers southeast of Saint-Émilion. The 5.7-hectare vineyard occupies a bowl-shaped, south-facing hillside. With 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the vines grow in complex clay and limestone soils, contributing to the unique terroir of the estate. The 1995 vintage retains a youthful and fruity profile, reflective of the robust tannins characteristic of the 1995 vintage. A genuine delight, particularly when enjoyed alongside a meal.
94 Robert Parker
A very powerful, concentrated Tertre Roteboeuf, but completely closed at present, this wine has a deep ruby/purple color, and a sweet nose of black cherry and plum jam intermixed with hints of vanilla, chocolate, and espresso roast. The wine is medium to full-bodied, quite tannic, powerful, and one of the more backward wines I have tasted at this estate. It requires much more cellaring than I originally anticipated. Anticipated maturity. 2005-2020. Last tasted, 12/02. - Robert M. Parker, Jr.
89 Vinous
Saturated ruby-red. Superripe aromas of game, leather, melted toffee and crystallized berries. Rich, supple, sweet and deep; already offers considerable pleasure. Tannins are substantial but ripe. Should develop fairly quickly.Stephen Tanzer1st May 1998
