Château Talbot 2015 hails from the renowned Saint-Julien appellation on Bordeaux`s Left Bank, designated as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 classification. This blend predominantly features Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by a notable proportion of Merlot, alongside smaller amounts of Petit Verdot. The 2015 vintage, marked by a warm growing season, produced wines with concentrated fruit flavours and pronounced structure. Expect aromatic notes of blackcurrant, cedar, and hints of tobacco, with a medium-bodied palate showcasing balanced acidity and firm tannins. Château Talbot has a history dating back to the 15th century, known for consistency and quality across its vintages.

The 2015 Talbot shows much better now than just a year ago. Here it has a much more intense bouquet than Gruaud Larose and Lagrange. Upfront blackberry and bilberry scents, cedar and subtle mint aromas lend complexity with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin on the entry, a fine bead of acidity with layers of graphite-infused black fruit. I love the precision on the finish here and the persistence is superb. Impressive. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.
