Talbot 2012 is a classic and savoury red from the Saint-Julien appellation, produced from an estate that has long been a benchmark for consistency and Saint-Julien character. This 2012 bottling is a traditional blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot, grown on one of the largest gravel-rich plateaus in the Medoc. It delivers an expressive profile of black cherries, tobacco and graphite, underpinned by the firm tannic structure and refreshing acidity characteristic of the vintage.
92 The Wine Independent
Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2012 Talbot has a perfumed nose of kirsch, dried roses, and cinnamon stick over a core of blackcurrant preserves and cloves. The medium-bodied palate delivers bright, lively red and black fruits with a grainy texture and lifted finish.Lisa Perrotti-Brown16th February 2023
89 Vinous
The 2012 Talbot has a well-defined bouquet with slightly ferrous red fruit, touches of truffle and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied, lighter than its peers but well defined and framed by fine tannins. There is a pleasant piquant touch on the finish. Drink now and over the next five to eight years. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting. Neal Martin27th September 2022
