Château Talbot 1990 is a mature Left Bank Bordeaux from the Fourth Growth Château Talbot in St-Julien. With a rich history dating back to the 15th century, Château Talbot is one of the best-known wine estates in Bordeaux. The property stretches over a 110ha single block vineyard, of which 102.5ha are dedicated to its Grand Vin. "This fully mature 1990 reveals plenty of lightening and bricking at the edge. Aromas of grilled meat, leather, cedar, herbs, and smoky black fruits are followed by a low acid, plush wine that lacks the concentration seen in the top wines of the vintage." Wine Advocate, 2009

Moderately saturated medium color. Meaty, herbaceous nose with a suggestion of exotic fruits. Fruit shows a sweet/sour character, with a suggestion of stems and hints of prunes and stewed tomato. Seems disjointed today, soft despite the fact that the acidity sticks out: perhaps simply a case of lacking the buffering extract. No particular intensity or length. Tasted from barrel two years ago, this wine seemed considerably riper.

The vineyards at Château Talbot cover around 110 hectares and are planted with 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot. The soils are composed of deep gravel overlying clay subsoil, which gives the wines a distinct minerality and complexity. The vineyard is managed sustainably, with a focus on preserving the natural environment and producing high-quality grapes.

In recent years, Château Talbot has invested heavily in modernizing its winemaking facilities while still maintaining the traditional methods that have made it successful for centuries. The estate's commitment to quality and sustainability, combined with its rich history and exceptional wines, make it a must-visit for wine lovers visiting Bordeaux.

Beyond the Grand Vin, Château Talbot produces a second wine called "Connetable de Talbot" and a white wine called "Caillou Blanc de Talbot".
