Château Talbot is a Fourth Growth property situated in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Haut-Médoc. The vineyards span around 110 hectares and are mainly planted to red varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The 1985 Château Talbot is considered an outstanding release. The vintage was characterized by favourable weather conditions that allowed the grapes to fully ripen and develop excellent concentration and complexity.
93 Vinous
The 1985 Talbot has a delectable bouquet with well-defined red berry fruit, mocha, tea leaves and bay leaf. This is Saint-Julien through and through. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, red berry fruit, Christmas cake and a dash of white pepper. With gentle grip and a persistent finish that lingers in the mouth, this very cohesive and harmonious 1985 comes highly recommended. Tasted at the château with Jean-Marc Laporte.
